Tell us a bit about you and your journey…

I am a published author, educator and the co-host of the Plant Fit Summit. Originally based in Melbourne, Australia, I was formerly a strength and conditioning coach for Australian Strength Performance.

After watching a documentary on animal cruelty, I turned vegan overnight. Having been a 1kg a day meat eating bodybuilder and strength coach, the paradigm shift in thinking challenged me to relearn what I thought I knew about food.

I then went on to be certified in plant-based nutrition. I have then coached and brought plant-based fitness models to competition. To further advocate empowered and conscious living, I published the book “A.W.A.K.E and Alive: Harness your physical and mental potential through a plant-based lifestyle”.

As an athlete, I have competed as a vegan and placed in natural bodybuilding competitions in Australia, and in the US with team Plantbuilt. In 2017, I competed with Plantbuilt again as a CrossFit athlete. Since then, I have been competing in several CrossFit and obstacle racing events. What I love right now is calisthenics/gymnastics!

In 2013 I formed Evolved Generation a brand based in Australia comprising of plant-based athletes, entrepreneurs and health professionals. Now based in Singapore, I am also the founder of Awake Method. Both brands promote plant-based health, fitness, wellness and conscious living. My latest project is being the co-host/co-creator of the Plant Fit Summit.

My vision is to create a culture of fit, healthy and conscious individuals, being the change they wish to see in the world.

What is your proudest moment thus far?

Welcoming our little girl Sienna in the world and choosing to raise her fully plant-based. Nothing compares to being a dad to my little princess.

Tell us about your morning routine

I wake up at 6am and start with hydration. A big glass of water and a teaspoon of PranaOn Super Greens. I then begin my ‘power hour’. My power hour.. I begin with a cleansing ritual. Clearing my space with some sage or palo santo. Following, I begin my 25 minute of meditation practice. After this, I fill up my gratitude journal and do a little visualisation for the day and what I would like to achieve in the near future. I will then read a passage on Stoic philosophy and journal on the key takeaway of the passage. I then plan and prioritise tasks for the day ahead. By the time I am done, my wife and daughter will be up for breakfast. It’s then a little family time before my wife leaves for work!

What’s your favourite way to use it or incorporate it into your healthy lifestyle, and why?

It’s my morning nutrient boost and hydration after a night’s sleep. It is also a great travel buddy especially for long haul flights. Tell us something interesting about yourself or a hidden talent

I have perfect pitch. With any key or note strummed..I can tell what musical key it is without looking and…I love DJ-ing (Prog/Tech/Tribal House)!

Any superstitions?

No specific ones. I believe what you reap is what you sow…the energy you put out comes back to you tenfold. I too believe in Karma. I try to live and speak with an open mind and open heart.

Do you prefer training in the morning or evening?

No specific preference, depends on what my schedule permits.

Where can we find you on a Saturday?

Either at CrossFit or doing my weekly fruit haul at my favourite fruit shop!

What’s on the horizon for you?

Developing more as a speaker, writing another book and maybe opening a vegan cafe/bar down the track!
