Tell us a bit about you and your journey…

I grew up playing high level competitive basketball, so fitness has always been an important part of my life. Eventually I retired from the sport and had my two beautiful girls, but I felt out of shape and a little lost exercise wise. I had been a member of the gym for many years, but generally just dabbled with the cardio machines and the odd group fitness class, but never truly enjoyed it. It wasn’t until I mustered the courage to try weight training, that I finally found what I enjoyed and was passionate about, and seeing my body transform as a byproduct of that was just icing on the cake! My love of weight training lead me to hire a coach, and I set the goal for myself to compete in my first fitness competition, which I went on to win. I’ve finally found a new sport that I love and am passionate about, and stepping on stage is what sets my soul on fire.

What is your proudest moment thus far?

Competing for the first time and winning the Overall Fitness Champion trophy, and my two children being able to come up on stage with me. They watched and encouraged me through my entire comp prep, so they knew how much it meant to me and were just as proud and excited as I was!

Tell us about your morning routine

My alarm goes off at 4:30am, and I’m straight out of bed and into the gym for a 1-1 1/2 hour weights session before the rest of the house wakes. Then it’s home to shower, get ready for work, and the kids up for school and kindergarten, and make a giant PranaOn smoothie to take with me on the go.

What’s your favourite way to use it or incorporate it into your healthy lifestyle, and why?

As a working mum of two, I’m always in a rush especially in the morning! So I love being able to throw it in a blender with some spinach, frozen banana, walnuts and chia seeds, to take on the run and know that I’m fuelling my body with loads of nutrients and a good protein hit to start the day. I also love making the most delicious choc mint protein balls with it, for a perfect healthy treat to go with a cuppa once the kids are tucked into bed.

Tell us something interesting about yourself or a hidden talent

I am a major foodie, and one of those people who will read recipe books instead of novels! I love to cook, and have a major sweet tooth, so I’m constantly cooking and creating healthy versions of my favourite sweet treats.

Do you prefer training in the morning or evening?

The morning, perfect way to start the day!

Where can we find you on a Saturday?

Starting off with a tough gym session, then basketball training with my kids, before heading to a nice café for lunch and a play at the park.

What’s on the horizon for you?

Competing in the ICN World Championships. I’m also currently studying for my Certificate 3 and 4 in Fitness, and would love to share my passion with others for a healthy, active lifestyle.
