Tell us a bit about you and your journey…

Being Danish by birth meat had always featured heavily in my diet, and growing up you would often find me eating it raw much to the disgust of my friends. As a stark contrast to this, I was introduced to a vegan lifestyle 20 years ago. Initially resistant because eating meat was so engrained into my psyche, like many others I attributed animal protein to muscle gain. However, once I tried veganism, I have never looked back. It is now 2020 and I have been entirely plant-based a cool 20 years! As a massive childhood fan of Arnie and Sly, it goes without saying that “Over the Top” was one of my favourite action movies. I then discovered the world of competitive armwresting after stumbling across a documentary called “Pulling John” which followed the journey of the Greatest Arm Wrester of all time, John Brzenk. In 2009 I was living in Melbourne and my yearning for arm wrestling grew. I wanted to arm wrestle but didn’t know anyone who would be interested. I scoured the internet but couldn’t find any arm wrestling groups in Melbourne…until I eventually stumbled across two guys who casually arm wrestled in their garage on the weekend. So I joined them and after a few months, this morphed into a growing group of passionate arm wrestlers. This is where the Australian Arm Wrestling Federation was born! With the help of my wife, we spearheaded this organisation and established a very strong brand. Within a short period of time, Arm Wrestling Australia was the only and largest official arm wrestling group in Australia – sanctioned by the World Armwrestling Federation. Now, we have competitions Australia wide, a network of thousands of competitors, and provide the official qualifier into the World Armwrestling Championships.

What is your proudest moment thus far?

Undefeated at the Australian Arm Wrestling titles on both arms last year after coming off a 6-year drought and having serious doubts whether I could still be competitive at that level. Cutting 7kg of bodyweight while retaining strength was a big challenge, and with the help of PranaOn, I was able to achieve my leanest and strongest shape ever at the age of 41.

Tell us about your morning routine.

I usually have a single shot of expresso to kickstart the morning, followed by some sunlight and light stretching on the back deck for a Vitamin D hit. Whether I’m fasting or not I always make a nutrient packed protein smoothie full of PranaOn and drink later in the morning at work.

What’s your favourite PranaOn product?

I’ve yet to have a PranaOn product I didn’t like but if I had to choose, Vanilla Natural Mass in my morning smoothies, Coconut Ice Intra Strength during my workouts.

What’s your favourite way to use it or incorporate it into your healthy lifestyle, and why?

My morning smoothie has become somewhat of a ritual for me now for several years and always incorporates fresh Turmeric, Ginger, Berries, Bananas, Oats, Cacao Nibs, Hemp seeds and of course, PranaOn Natural Mass (Vanilla). Not only does it taste incredible, but it’s packed full of quality plant proteins, healthy fats, natural anti-inflammatories, antioxidants, and gives me a sustained energy boost throughout the day.

Tell us something interesting about yourself or a hidden talent.

I used to be part of a dance group called Airborne performing at big raves around Brisbane in the late 90s! Funnily enough, I don’t dance now at all, I avoid it as best I can!

Any superstitions?

I’ve lived with 2 black cats for many years so absolutely none 😊

Do you prefer training in the morning or evening?

Evening for sure.

Where can we find you on a Saturday?

Enjoying the vibes in Paddington walking my dog and grabbing a soy latte at my local haunt Kettle & Tin.

What’s on the horizon for you?

In addition to competitive arm wrestling and continuing my journey in the world of strength sports, I am also a business owner of a successful software company. My future goals entail defending my National Arm Wrestling titles in 2020 [while recovering from a shoulder surgery!] and continuing to expand my company on the global stage.

Favourite motto to live by:

My motto is to never accept mediocrity - to always set your bar higher than what you think you can achieve. You will always surprise yourself. When you reach that unattainable goal you realise that you can set that bar even higher next time! The human mind is capable of incredible things – when you apply yourself emotionally and physically.
