Tell us a bit about you and your journey…
I started in the fitness industry at the young age of 16 and spent 12 years in personal training, teaching aerobics and competing in both sport aerobics and fitness model comps. I have practiced and taught all the traditional fitness industry diet and training methods for most of my young life. All of this left me with some eating disorders, a negative mind-set and depression in my 20s. And, sadly, all these teachings still go on today, some 25 years later!
Now, at 45 years of age and since re-educating myself in my mid to late 30s, in plant based nutrition, nutritional medicine and fitness again, I decided to get back into the fitness industry, as I wanted to educate people about the benefits of plant-based nutrition. This change in my own lifestyle, lead to my passion in helping others now change their health and wellness, all whilst making the world a more compassionate one.
My thriving ethical lifestyle has led to my success as an international bikini champion and helped in my online coaching programs in which I only write Vegan Meal Plans. I have had the honour of helping transform thousands of people’s lives to a healthy plant-based vegan lifestyle across the globe for the past 5 years. I believe, ‘we cannot force change, but we can inspire change’.
- What is your proudest moment thus far?
Being a mum without a doubt, most of all raising a child with autism to be a well-functioning adult now at 20.
- Tell us about your morning routine
Water, coffee then early beach walk with my rescue dogs.
- What’s your favourite PranaOn product?
Primal Vanilla Maple & Phyto Fire Chai Latte protein powders…couldn’t pick just one!
- What’s your favourite way to use it or incorporate it into your healthy lifestyle and why?
I love making smoothie bowls and I add in the PranaOn protein as it makes it creamier & complete. This is my everyday snack or post workout meal! I even take some PranaOn Protein whilst travelling, as I buy fruit salad at airports and sprinkle or dust it on…love it! Plus, I hit my macros 😉
- Tell us something interesting about yourself or a hidden talent
A very interesting fact: it took me 30mins to answer this question! Still had nothing…. ☺ I love weird plant-foods and get sooo excited at farmer’s markets or when i go to new countries, I want to try all the new fruits & veggies I’ve never had…I practically research the plant foods of that country! I remember, I had acai, before it was a thing! My favorites plant-foods are Acerola, Aipim, Durian & Cassava.
- Any superstitions?
I am not really a superstitious person, but II feel have a sixth sense which could pass as a superstitious behavior…!
- Do you prefer training in the morning or evening?
For me, anytime is a good time to train, with a hectic schedule. If I get to move each day, I am happy! Generally, morning is barefoot beach walking time, with my fur babies (if in com prep – it’s longer and harder) and afternoon/evening is either calisthenics or weights.
- Where can we find you on a Saturday?
Early at the local farmer’s market for my weekly food haul, then at the beach and I finish off the day, listening to local music & bands with friends or family.
- What’s on the horizon for you?
Complete & release my 2x new books in 2018 & 2019. Keep competing at international bodybuilding competitions and keep thriving on a vegan whole food lifestyle!
